First Ascent supported the newly formed Cambridgeshire Mental Health Network to develop their leadership capabilities and become a high performing team.
Organisation Overview
Cambridgeshire Mental Health Network (MHN) is part of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) the organisation responsible for planning, organising and purchasing NHS funded healthcare for people living in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area. It has a patient population of approximately 930,000 which is diverse, ageing, and has significant inequalities.
Our Approach
This programme evolved from a regional leadership development programme that First Ascent designed and delivered for the East of England NHS Strategic Health Authority, which included modules, masterclasses and ILM qualifications (level 7).
First Ascent supported the MHN in creating a vision and purpose, helping them to set their future direction, agree key objectives and priorities and clearly define roles and responsibilities. Building upon these solid foundations, our ongoing work has included the development of leadership and communication skills, motivating and influencing others, stakeholder management and personal resilience.
Coaching was incorporated into the programme to help embed and consolidate the learning and turn the insights into actions. All participants are further supported by free lifetime mentoring.
Impact and ROI
The programme continues to support and challenge Cambs MHN to deliver their objectives in an increasingly complex, multi stakeholder environment.
Client quote
“We now have a clear vision, have developed a mission statement, have clear strategic objectives, and monitor our work plan and agree priorities on a monthly basis. Our team meetings are shorter, more focussed, and very much more productive.
We are much better able to cope with workload pressures, prioritise, delegate, spend more time on strategy and relationship-building with key stakeholders, and generally lead the service more effectively.”
