The Brain Race

- Friday 17th April 2015

An article in the 11th April 2015 edition of New Scientist, updates us on the money now being invested in brain research.  The US, Europe, China, Israel, Japan and Canada are all investing significantly.

In Japan, the Brain/MINDS project is being funded at a rate of $30m per annum, for ten tears. The European Brain Project will cost $1.3bn between 2013 and 2023. The US Brain Initiative started with $100m pa, growing to $400m pa over 5 years and then will stabilise at $500m pa until 2025!

The various groups claim not to be in competition, but several commentators are hoping that this will lead to collaborative global initiative equivalent to the International Space Station.

We watch with interest...
