The Neuroscience of Leadership

- Friday 19th February 2016

First Ascent were delighted to welcome delegates to the latest Foundation event at Coombe Abbey in Warwickshire this week.

The Foundation presents three workshops every year, each themed on a relevant, contemporary aspect of leadership.  It has been designed to provide a dynamic forum for people committed to excellence in leadership.

The topic was The Neuroscience of Leadership and the aim was to demonstrate how an understanding of the latest developments within neuroscience can really benefit leadership capability in organisations.

In the opening slot, First Ascent Director, Steve Bentley, talked about how to manage our personal neurochemistry to remain in control of our emotions.  Guest speaker Georgina Usher, CEO of British Fencing, presented a fascinating and inspiring insight into her leadership journey and personal learnings en route to her current role. David Sales, Director of First Ascent, then shared practical tips, tools and techniques around how to develop greater brain stamina and stay focused on priorities.

The day was interspersed with the usual high energy, experiential activities designed to motivate, educate and amuse!

“ It was a great mix of theory and practical applications to benefit my organisation. Really thought provoking.”
